At Southend Barns we are lucky to witness amazing moments all of the time. Watching our couples as they exchange those life changing vows to each other really is the highlight of our job. Over the years, we have also been lucky enough to experience some other magical and memorable wedding events. So, from fly overs to flying ring bearers here are some of the stand out moments we have witnessed so far.
Arriving in style
We have seen brides and grooms arrive at Southend Barns in a variety of vehicles and automobiles to make that grand entrance! From classic cars and campers to horses and helicopters! Several of our couples have taken advantage of our ample land and turned up in true style – with champagne on arrival of course.
Making the most of the wide clear skies above us here in Donnington, several brides and grooms have treated guests and partners to a fabulous flyover – some even complete with romantic sky writing! Our adventurous couples gambled with the British weather and it paid off as everyone was wowed by the impressive reception show overhead.
Flying ring bearers
We get really excited when couples bring their well-behaved furry friends to be part of their big day. Over the years we have welcomed dogs, horses, rabbits and even hedgehogs! One unforgettable moment was at a Halloween themed wedding which included an awesome owl ring bearer at the ceremony.
A moment which delighted young and old alike was when one couple had an enormous vintage carousel set up in the car park outside our Collecting Yard. The beautiful ride was a huge hit with guests and provided a fantastic photo opportunity for the wedding party.
Keeping the wedding bands safe is one of the most important jobs on a wedding day as one couple knew when they appointed a pint-sized family member to take charge of their rings! The adorable ring bearer – complete with ‘Ring Security’ across the back of his waistcoat – went down a treat with guests and was a moment we will never forget!
It isn’t always the big things that qualify as magical moments. It could be the look of the groom when his bride walks down our Dairy Barn aisle, a secret slow dance in our flower filled gardens or the father of the bride taking a quiet moment outside after the ceremony. These are the moments that make us feel so honoured to be part of a couple’s big day.
