Themes fit for a princess

With the impending nuptials of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle fast approaching and excitement levels reaching fever pitch, we look back at some of the weddings we have seen here with themes and ideas that are fit for royalty.

Every princess wants to make a grand entrance, and we have seen some fantastic arrival ideas including horse drawn carriages, limousines and helicopters. We’ve even erected flagpoles at our striking three-peak entrance to welcome guests in true regal style.

For added grandeur, our fully licensed Dairy Barn has a 22-foot aisle for brides to glide down, getting that spectacular entrance they have always dreamed of. The high vaulted ceilings with exposed beams can be dressed with glorious greenery or swathes of sheer drapes to give the barn that extra touch of luxury fit for a royal couple.

It’s not everyday you get to wear a sweeping floor length gown. We have seen a whole host of spectacular styled wedding dresses that make each bride look like royalty. From delicate lace and billowing skirts to sparkling embellishments and sweetheart styles, the wedding dress has to be one of the most anticipated parts of a wedding day.

What could be more majestic than a venue awash with a sea of seasonal foliage and flowers? We’ve seen some fabulous floristry feats here at Southend Barns, with greenery and fragrant flowers adorning the exposed beams of both barns, pillars entwined with flora and show-stopping displays hanging from the vaulted ceilings. Floral table decorations can be equally as opulent when combined with our regal candlebras.

Personalised stationery has always been a royal wedding tradition and we’ve seen lots of couples put their own spin on this custom. From calligraphy, gold foiling and elegant emblems that incorporate the couple’s names to more quirky and unique design twists, there are some beautiful bespoke options out there. The stationery doesn’t just stop at the invites; the theme can be extended across the order of service, table names and even menus.

No royal wedding would be complete without a small army of pretty flower girls and dapper page boys. This is a fantastic way to include younger members of the family in your big day and add an extra cute factor. From traditional white dresses and coloured sashes with baskets of petals for the girls and three-piece suits complete with cravats or bow ties for the boys, we’ve also seen some fun twists with the youngest members of the bridal party including personalised signs, ‘ring security’ ring bearers and babies rolled in by chariot style buggies.

No matter what you choose as your theme, we are sure you will enjoy a fairytale wedding where you will be treated like royalty for the day.
