The Threshing Barn

The 200-year- old Threshing Barn radiates rustic charm with its authentic wooden beams and wrought iron chandeliers. This history combined with stylish contemporary touches make the wedding barn a beautiful and versatile venue for a wedding party.

Despite offering plenty of space for dancing and entertaining, The Threshing Barn still retains an intimate and relaxed feel. For more information on capacities, please click ‘here’. The vast windows across both sides of the building allow guests to enjoy the surrounding gardens and beautiful sunsets over the South Downs.

The Dairy Barn - Ceremony Room

The elegant Dairy Barn is fully licensed for all civil ceremonies and partnerships. With a wonderful sweeping 22 metre aisle, exposed wooden beams and benches made of sweet chestnut, the wedding barn is an idyllic setting for loved ones to exchange their vows.

Located adjacent to the Threshing Barn, the high vaulted ceremonies room has a stylish and romantic ambiance. The soft, muted colour scheme gives you the freedom to make the Dairy Barn your own and beautifully complements all wedding themes.

The Dairy Barn can also be used after the wedding ceremony for a drinks reception or transformed into an entertainment room for children or your older guests.

The Secret Garden

Nestled in a tranquil spot between our resident alpaca’s field and the romantic flint walls of the Dairy Barn is our new outdoor wedding ceremony garden.

Using beautiful natural elements that complement the rest of our wedding barn venue, The Secret Garden is a hidden gem that features a stunning 50-foot aisle set amidst peaceful scenery. Taking inspiration from the Dutch term gezellig, the garden is a celebration of togetherness, comfort and enjoyment – the perfect place to take those first steps together into married life.

The Milking Parlour - Bridal Suite

Relax and prepare for your big day in the calm and luxurious surroundings of the bridal suite, which is located in its own private courtyard and rose garden.

Once used as a dairy parlour it has been renovated with contemporary interiors, complete with driftwood mirrors, lavish rugs and a log fire, which is lit and ready for your return with a bottle of sparkling wine.

The Milking Parlour can be used as the groom’s quarters or for the bride and her bridesmaids to get ready in before the wedding ceremony. Couples can also use the suite to have a little privacy throughout the day and are welcome to stay the night if they should wish.

The Collecting Yard and Gardens

Surrounded by beautiful landscaped gardens, romantic courtyards and tranquil hideaways with resident swans and Sussex wildlife, Southend Barns provides a romantic backdrop for all country weddings.

A picturesque courtyard lies at the heart of the venue, with its luscious lawn, well-kept pots and Cornish slate patio lined with dairy inspired milk churns – it is the perfect spot for photographs and for mingling with your guests over drinks and canapés.

As evening falls, the gardens are lit with romantic up-lights that show off the fantastic flint and log walls of the wedding barns. Here guests can gather around the relaxing Collecting Yard with its sumptuous sofas and fire pit to enjoy an enchanting evening setting.

The Collecting Yard has subtle glass screens so you and your guests can still enjoy being outside without being affected by the unpredictable weather. Another recent addition to the Collecting Yard are the eight patio heaters which make the area really cosy and inviting for guests.

You can also relax knowing that we have a large on-site car park that can accommodate up to 80 cars.
